Workforce Development: Addressing Stigma in the Workforce

In many ways, modern American life is defined by work. Most people agree that being part of the workforce is valuable, not just because of the obvious benefits like compensation, but also because of the sense of purpose and self-worth that accompany employment.

For individuals with mental health needs, having a job can be especially meaningful. Unfortunately, the degree of stigma surrounding mental health in society can make succeeding in the work place difficult. To examine the relationship between the workplace and mental health stigma, The CAFE TA Center has published its newest white paper, Workforce Development: Stigma in the Workplace. It explores how stigma works, how individuals can deal with disclosure, and measures employers can take to create a stigma-free environment. Please take a moment to check it out today!
