Focus 5: Emerging Adults Need Consumer Support

Emerging adulthood is the phase between adolescence and full-fledged adulthood. Traditionally services in the behavioral health realm have been divided between systems designed for children, and systems designed for adults. Late adolescence and early adulthood are a critical period in human development, and an especially vulnerable time for those with behavioral health issues, with young adults aging out of foster care and youth systems, and some young adults experiencing the symptoms of mental illness for the first time.

In the latest edition of our newsletter, we put the focus on those emerging adults, and the ways in which adult consumers with lived experience can help to bridge the gap between systems designed for minors and organizations and services for adults. You can check it out online here on our website here: Focus 5: Emerging Adults Need Consumer Support. We hope you enjoy it, and as always, we welcome your feedback!
